The Granada Cathedral was commissioned by Queen Isabella I of Castile shortly after the capture of the city in 1505. Its cornerstone was laid on the Feast of the Annunciation in 1523, with its first architect being Enrique Egas, later succeeded by Diego de Siloé.

Featuring a monumental facade by Alonso Cano, it houses a magnificent altarpiece within. The Main Chapel is a remarkable example of Spanish Renaissance art, visible from the central nave.

Several chapels close off its side aisles, each representing different eras and styles with exceptional artworks, such as the altarpiece of the Virgin of Antigua, Granada's first patron saint.
